All kids can borrow books from our library now! The following guide is a quick introduction of the borrowing procedure and a few tips of our lending service. Please read with your kid, remind them to take good care of the books and to return them in time. Grade 1: Kids performed excellently during these two weeks. They learned the difference of cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers from 6 to 10. When it came to calculation, they can even come up with questions that related to addition and subtraction in daily life. At the same time, we finished the autumn courses ‘How to make a sandbag with a taste of autumn and math?’. We also took part in the activity of designing the sandbag. On Halloween, we joined the ‘’treasure hunting” game. We hid the treasure bags in the classrooms which contained math information, the kids would find the bags by clues of math direction. After that the kids designed lots of cards to help to solve the problems in the sandbags. Beside the extensive knowledge they learned from these courses, the children also got through the whole process of finding and solving problems which significantly promote their way of thinking. Guess what? Bigger surprises are waiting for you next week!
Grade 2: Kids from “dolphin class” did a great job during the past two weeks. They understand the meaning of multiplication – which is the simple way of adding numbers. Now they can do multiplications! In addition, they can even come up with questions that relate to multiplication in our daily life. At the same time, we finished the autumn courses ‘How to make a sandbag with a taste of autumn and math?’. Beside the extensive knowledge they learned from these courses, the kids also got through the whole process by finding and solving problems which significantly promote their way of thinking.
Those small “dolphins” had a lot of fun in math on Halloween! They created their own multiplication table for numbers 2 to 5 and they can use them in solving real-life problems! They studied quite efficiently. Next week we will learn multiplication tables for numbers 6 to 9. Are you ready?

In the past two weeks, we concentrated on the following two training contents:
Firstly, forehand & backhand alternative practice in pairs. Secondly, forehand to forehand, and backhand to backhand practice in pairs. All the practice helped the kids understanding and allowed them to improve their proficiency in these two skills. In addition, it strengthened their stability of forehand and backhand shots.
In the golden autumn, prep classes learned a whole new instrument: Sleigh Bells. Children mastered the correct way to use them and can use them to accompany the song "Jingle Bells" which is a clear and pleasing sound. Preschool and Grade 1 students learned new songs called "Christmas HOHO" and "Sweet Fruit Pie". These two songs have distinct rhymes, whilst the rap involves the knowledge of dots and syncopation. This helps to improve the children’s sense of rhythm. Additionally, Grade 1 students made their own fruit headdresses and studied the body movements of “Sweet Fruit Pie”.
Grade 2 students had rhythm training using glasses. The kids played all kinds of rhythms with glasses in their hands. This not only trained the sense of rhythm of the students, but also spiced up the class. Next week, we will accompany ‘I am a Little Musician’, a joyful British children’s song with rhythms played with glasses. Grade 3 Students in music class listened and sang songs in different ways to feel the emotion of songs.
Golf is another school for kids.
HD school advocates sports and believes that the diversified sports learning will bring the children a bright future. Honesty, integrity, respect, self-confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, judgment, sportsmanship and other merits in golfing etiquette are the main focuses of our lessons.
In the previous two weeks, in addition to the basic golfing etiquette, we stressed the importance of the basic preparatory action of pushing rod and flying rod. Before each class, kids need to stretch their muscles and do a warm-up exercise. It is an essential for the kids to understand the importance of warming up. Besides, golf knowledge is indispensable. Children should know every stick and its usage, so that they can do the practice with a clear goal.
During class, the coaches explained the main points of the action and guided them how to aim. After that, they allowed kids to learn from each other and correct other’s actions. By doing this, they can have a deeper impression and better understanding of the skills they are learning. Before the class was over we had a little competition. The kids learned how to deal with stress, to build up confidence and have a stronger sense of the honor of teamwork.
Golf, a school that promotes technique, physical fitness, personality, culture, taste, intelligence quotient and emotional quotient.
They have had a blast dreaming up and creating their own monsters in Design Thinking class! Years 1 and 2 have collaboratively designed all types of monsters: ghosts, robots, pumpkin-heads, and more! They then built them according to their plans.
This week brought Prep classes the challenge of designing and building a Halloween mask for our teachers to wear. We got to talk about, and experiment with scale, and worked together to think through the necessary design elements to make seeing and breathing/speaking in a mask possible. Check out these learners from Prep B, exploring new tools - hole punches, rulers, hot glue guns, and staplers, as they prepare their masks for Stella!
Year 3 learners had our first exploratory lesson on littleBits - modular electronics that we will be using for a unit on inventions in coming weeks. Keep an eye on this section for photos soon - we can’t wait to show you what we’re working on!
